The Student Council represents and acts for the student community of Zespół Szkół nr 4 in Bydgoszcz (Secondary Schools No. 4 in Bydgoszcz). The main responsibilities of the Council include informing the school?s authorities about students? concerns, organizing annual election for the Student Council, conducting official ceremonies at the beginning and end of each school year, and drawing monthly lucky numbers. The Council also represents the school at important public ceremonies and events, both at school and outside. What is more, the Council tries to make students? stay at school more interesting and attractive by means of various competitions and events (e.g. Christmas fair at Christmas, Valentine?s post box at St Valentine?s Day, or the competition of knowledge about Bydgoszcz in April). At the end of each school year, the Council announces and hands out awards to teachers in the following categories: the most demanding teacher (Golden Saw Award), the most friendly teacher (Teddy Bear Award), the most beautifully speaking teacher (Golden Feather Award), and the most elegantly dressed teacher (Golden Coat Hanger Award). The Council consists of around 20 people eager to act on behalf of the student community presided over by the Chairperson and Vice-chairperson for the Secondary School No. 9 (Liceum nr IX), and the Chairperson and Vice-chairperson for the Lower Secondary School No. 17 (Gimnazjum nr 17). During the meetings, usually held on Thursdays at 12.20 in the Council?s room (room no. 10), members of the Council plan future events. The activities of the Council are supervised by Mrs Małgorzata Zakrzewska, a history teacher and an organizer of excellent school trips, and Mr Dawid Urbański, an English teacher, historian, and a great enthusiast of Bydgoszcz and its fascinating history.
